Ms. Arnett has engaged in the practice of law in the Washington Metropolitan area for nineteen years. For over fourteen years, Ms. Arnett has practiced as the principle of her own practice.

Teresa has a unique tax perspective and infrastructure through her attainment of the uniform CPA licensure and as a tax lawyer working with a top-250 law firm and in a tax boutique for multi-national and multi-jurisdictional corporate clients and large estates and trusts.

Ms. Arnett concentrates her practice in the areas of estate and trust planning, probate estate administration, trust administration, tax planning, asset protection, business succession, wealth administration and legacy. Her estate and trust planning and administration practice is focused on trust creation, implementation and administration, wills, powers, directives and the creation and implementation of house trusts or qualified personal residence trusts("QPRTs"), Dynasty trusts, Qualified Terminable Interest Property Trusts ("QTIPs"), qualified domestic order trusts ("QDOTs"), irrevocable life insurance trusts ("ILITs"), and charitable trusts-CRATs and CRUTs, intentionally defective grantor trusts, and grantor retained annuity trusts ("GRAT").  Ms. Arnett's practice has included handling administrative estate tax controversies. 

Ms. Arnett has coordinated complex and simple trust, fiduciary, inheritance, intangibles, gift and estate tax returns, including Generation Skipping ("GST") tax returns. 

In conjunction with her estate planning and probate estate and trust administration, she practices in the area of business law for closely-held corporations and pass-through entities, including LLCs and partnerships, limited partnerships, and business trusts. As part of her legacy development, she has created tax-exempt entities and foundations. In this capacity, Ms. Arnett holds the position of general counsel for a select number of family-owned businesses.

Her practice serves business owners, professionals, investors, and corporate executives. Ms. Arnett is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association, Estate and Trust and Taxation Sections, Bar Association of the District of Columbia, Tax and Probate Law Sections, the West Virginia State Bar and the Bar Association of Montgomery County, Maryland -Estate & Trust Law Section. She has been admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of the United States, United States Tax Court, the Court of Appeals of Maryland, United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia, District Court for the Fourth Circuit, Maryland Court of Appeals and the West Virginia Supreme Court.

Concurrent with Ms. Arnett's practice of law, she authored a number of tax publications including: Teresa Arnett, "State Treatment of Net Operating Losses in the Affiliated Corporate Group and Non-affiliated Corporate Context" 1 (1997); Arnett, "State and Federal NOLD Differences Following Changes in Ownership," (Pt. 1) 10 J St. Tax'n No. 4, 71(1992); and Arnett, "State and Federal NOLD Differences Following Changes in Ownership," (Pt. 2) 11 J St. Tax'n No. 1,1(1992). Ms. Arnett also wrote and edited the prototype net operating loss portfolio for the Bureau of National Affairs/Tax Management in Washington, DC.

While in law school, she contributed to Alagia, "A Proper Recognition of the Indispensable Role of the American Farmer-Recommendations of the National Commission on Agricultural Trade and Export Policy," 34 S.D.L. Rev. 271 (1989).

Ms. Arnett has a enjoyed lecturing, teaching, and public speaking over the years while presenting estate planning, tax and business seminars for professional organizations and during a managerial internship with KPMG, LLP, National Tax Office, in Washington, D C and during her employment with a US Treasury contractor, The MITRE Corporation, in McLean, Virginia.

After graduation from law school she worked with Jackson & Kelly, PLLC, in the tax department of their corporate headquarters and with Anthony & Associates, a tax boutique located in Chevy Chase, Maryland.

Before Ms. Arnett began her own practice she worked as a tax policy and legal analyst for the US Treasury contractor, The MITRE Corporation, McLean, Virginia. While practicing law, Ms. Arnett worked with a tax-exempt organization along with O'Connor & Hannah, of Washington, DC before the US Supreme Court .
